How to truly change
I am so excited about this live stream we’re doing! I will be talking with Marcus Cook, Big to Little, a patient (and friend) who went from 500 lbs down to the low 200’s. He went on to successfully completed 3 Ironman races. I was fortunate to race with him during his first 2 triathlons.
Lately though, Marcus has been struggling because weight loss is not a destination. It is a constant and often difficult journey. Marcus has a lot to teach us about setbacks, motivation, and old habits that die hard. He has important warnings about addictions and their role in the journey to a better you.
Who better to discuss these issues with than my very old friend and one of the top addiction specialists in the country. Dr. Jason ZW Powers is a board certified addiction specialist and Chief Medical Officer for the Positive Recovery Centers. He has written 2 amazing books on addiction and his compassion, learned through his own experiences, is un rivaled in dealing with theses issues.
As a bonus, I included a picture of Jason and me when we were in college (I think). Little did we know our paths would cross again to discuss issues as serious as addiction and obesity.
When/Where: The Live Stream Scheduled for 1/10/2021; Sunday 5pm, EST. Stream will be simulcasted Dr Garth Davis’s YouTube channel and Facebook; maybe Instagram as well. An edited version will be released soon after via facebook, YouTube, and eventually embedded here.
Description: Jason Powers, MD is an Addiction Specialist, author, and all around guru. Marcus is one of Dr. Garth Davis’s patients and friends. Marcus lost over 200 lbs after surgery. I am sooooo tired of talking about vaccines, but seeing we have a pandemic that is actually getting worse and tons of misinformation, I wanted to do bullet point rebuttals to misinformation since everything else I have posted seems too long.
Bet you didn’t know it is World Vegan Day! Being vegan isn’t easy. The world has changed a lot but it still is difficult to constantly wonder whether I will be able find appropriate food when going out. But I don’t mind the sacrifices.
I feel so grateful to be in a job that allows me to be a part of such wonderful transformations. Melanie has done such an amazing job.
